The Textbook Putsch

A public school history textbook in Volusia County, Florida caused controversy because — you guessed it — it contained a nice big fluffy chapter on Islam, and none on any other religion. The Volusia school board scheduled a public meeting last night to discuss the issue, and then suddenly cancelled it due to an unspecified threat.

The board will reschedule the meeting at some future date, but will it be announced in advance? Or will they slip it in quickly and quietly one night, hoping to get the textbook approved and in place with a minimum of fuss from those pesky “Islamophobic” parents?

Below are two videos about the situation in Volusia County. Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this news report from a local TV station:

And this supplemental raw video footage:

This is not an isolated controversy. All over the country, the soft-balling of Islam in school textbooks has become a public issue. Brevard County Public Schools — also in Florida — are using the same book, which refers to Mohammed as the “messenger of God”:

School officials in Florida are defending a textbook that declares Muhammad as the “Messenger of God” after critics accused an Islamic education group of launching a stealth jihad in American public school classrooms.

The Prentice World History textbook being used in Brevard Public Schools includes a 36-page chapter on Islam but no chapters on Christianity or Judaism.

According to a copy obtained by Fox News, The ninth grade textbook declares that Muhammad is the “Messenger of God” and instructs students that jihad is a duty that Muslims must follow.

A similar discussion has arisen about the way certain Muslim textbooks present other religions. The following newsletter from the Tennessee Council for Political Justice describes a textbook written Yahiya Emerick and used by the Anoor Academy, which is a private school — these books are not (yet) being used in state schools:

Watch Knoxville Anoor Academy’s 2013 promo video carefully and at minute 1:04 you see a row of textbooks which are Yahiya Emerick’s What Islam Is All About. As noted in Newsletter #43 this text is being used in any number of Islamic private and weekend schools around the U.S. According to Emerick, this book was written in standard English to teach Muslim children living in the U.S. about Islam.

Since the textbook is being used at Anoor Academy, what is the likelihood that it is also being used at the Nashville International Academy Islamic School and the Pleasant View School in Memphis?

Below are just a few examples from this textbook and note, nothing is taken out of context. The book generally reinforces Islam as a supremacist ideology and dovetails well with the anti-Christian/Jewish prayer Al-Fatihah recited by Muslims several times a day. This is discussed more fully in Newsletter #48.

p. 187 — I. Who Follows Ibrahim’s Example?

“So, although the Christians and Jews may make a big noise about following Prophet Ibrahim, in fact, neither of them do. Prophet Ibrahim fulfilled Allah’s commands, the Jews don’t even follow half of what their corrupted books say. The Christians don’t follow anything except what their philosophers and priests make up from time to time.”

p. 188 — “Prophet Ibrahim called all people to Allah’s way of life. The ‘Jews’ don’t call anybody to anything. They subscribe to a belief in racial superiority calling themselves the ‘chosen’ ones and excluding non-Jews as much as possible. Their religion even teaches them to call down curses upon the worship places of non-Jews whenever they pass by them! They arrogantly refer to anyone who is not Jewish as ‘Gentiles,’ equating them with sin.”

“Prophet Ibrahim told people to do good and he forbade the wrong. Many ‘religious’ and ‘non-religious’ Jews and Christians lead such decadent and immoral lives that lying, alcohol, nudity, pronography, racism, foul language, pre-marital sex, homosexuality and everything else are accepted in their society, churches and synagogues. Just turn on the television in any Jewish or Christian community and see what’s ‘normal.’”

p.212 — “What was the mission of Bani Isra’il? To call surrounding nations to the worship of Allah and to be an example to others. Did they fulfill this responsibility? Unfortunately, no.”

“In about the year 900 BCE, They started calling themselves, Jews after one of their kingdoms which was called Judah.

Today, the Jews claim to follow the legacy of the Prophet Musa, but they fall far short of his example. They claim they are Allah’s chosen people but then refuse to give the message to others. ‘They claim, Everything will be forgiven for us.’

They follow laws and practices that no Prophet or Messenger ever taught. They earned the wrath of Allah for their disobedience and as Allah said: there will be enemies who will attack them until the Day of Judgment unless they repent and return to the path.

Nothing of Prophet Musa’s original message survives today. Only a few of the descendants of Bani Isra’il have remained pure and in search of the truth. Those who are fortunate, discover Islam and study it with an open heart. Then they become our Muslim brothers and sisters. Only then do they follow in the footsteps of the Blessed Prophet Musa.”

p. 223 — “Many societies have placed a smaller value on the participation of women in spiritual life. The descendants of the Bani Isra’il, who we know as the Jews, also have such feelings. They even have a prayer in which a man thanks God for not making him a woman!”

p.366 — “Allah says in this ayah not to take non-Muslims as protectors. Only fellow Muslims you can rely on should have authority or power over you. Because in the end, a non-Muslim who knows you, and who doesn’t accept Islam, is a rebel against Allah’s way of life and will harm you in the end or try to make you like him or her.

p. 377 — “Muslims dream of establishing the power of Islam in the world. Muslims of all types and backgrounds agree that the Islamic system is the best for humanity in this life.”

p.381 — “The way of life known as Islam is a complete code of life. It was revealed by the Creator of the Universe as a guide for people to live their lives thereby.

This being the case, Islam provides answers for individuals, families as well as societies and governments. There is no separation of Masjid and state for the object of the Islamic state is the establishment of the Deen of Allah.

By contrast, the object of Christian countries is the dominance of their nations over others and the gathering of riches (‘Survival of the fittest’ and ‘MIght makes right’ are their mottoes.”)

Muslims know that Allah is the Supreme Being in the universe, therefore, His laws and commandments must form the basis for all human affairs. If we didn’t follow Allah’s commandments, but then still called ourselves Muslims, we would be hypocrites like the Christians, Buddhists and Jews are today.”

“The basis of the legal and political system is the Shari’ah of Allah. Its main sources are the Qur’an and Sunnah. People do not make the laws, Allah does.

p.382 — “Non-Muslims (who are called Dhimmis when living in an Islamic state) who are loyal citizens of the country and pay their taxes (Jizyah) have equal rights with Muslims and have the right to practice their religion as they see fit. No one can be persecuted and no one will be forced to change their beliefs.

In fact, the historians of the world recognize that Islamic civilization has been the most tolerant and fair out of all the world’s civilizations.”

So when Sheikh Yasir Qadhi in Memphis asserts that Christians and Jews are spiritually “filthy” and Hamas-CAIR Director Dawud Walid tells his audience that the Jews incurred the wrath of Allah, they are simply reinforcing what young Islamists are being taught in Islamist schools.

And why should anyone be surprised that American Center for Outreach (ACO) Director Remziya Suleyman endorses these men, these schools and the supremacist doctrine taught to budding Islamists?

And don’t forget that repeat visitor to Nashville, Zaid Shakir, tells students “If Islam is the basis, the kafir [non-believer] won’t be equal with the Muslim. The Christian or the Jew will be a dhimmi [second-class citizen]. They won’t be equal with the Muslim.”

Perhaps this textbook could be the topic of Rabbi Schiftan’s next “honest dialogue” with Imam Bahloul a the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro. And to all the other Rabbis, Pastors, Ministers, and religious school instructors, consider that these are the same students that participate in the “Sons and Daughters of Abraham.”

  1. Some of the problems with Abraham are contained in Allan Dershowitz’s rather brilliant account of his near sacrifice of Isaac. He said that today Abraham would be locked up for child endangerment and abuse, after a thorough psychiatric evaluation.

This is something the Muslim can’t understand about the example of the patriarchs.

With Abraham rejecting human sacrifice (honor killing your own offspring might fit today?)
we might be looking at metaphorical archetypes and parables that show us how to battle our demons and let the angels of our better nature triumph, eh Ahmed? Ever thought about that?

    • Biblical scholars pretty much agree that the story of Abraham was a signal tale – a confirmation that set these monotheists apart from their neighbors who regularly sacrificed children to Moloch, et al. This was millenia before Mohammed or the Koran.

The story was extant in both the northern and southern tribes of Israel, so it’s pretty old. And much better than a sermon is that passage. A cliff-hanger for sure. I like to ponder what the Greeks would have done with such a story. Their gods were so whimsical it wouldn’t have ended well.

      • MLK is the Hebrew spelling of the Anglicized Moloch. It’s appropriate in the American context to think about the legacy of De Lahd himself. All the treasure and generations of our own children we have
wasted on the vanity, hot air and pipe dreams of this new god…

  2. Also what I quite like about characters like Jacob is that they are kind of rotten at times. Not exactly wicked, but conniving and a bit back stabby. They appear as regular people with weaknesses and flaws. I find Jacob’s usurpation of Esau fascinating as it is hard to sympathize with Jacob, even though Jacob is the “hero” His sharp dealings with Laban also seem a bit
rotten. He runs off with two daughters, the family statues and most of Laban’s flock. He’s a bit devious and the whole story is funny. God as the narrator clearly had a good laugh at everyone’s expense. Where is the humor in the Koran?

  3. Despite all the leagalese can we just simply say there is no place for Islam in the schoolbooks of the nation. And my own personal campaign in Canada, I will never buy Campbell’s tomato soup again since it has the halal mark on it. Canada has many companies that make a wonderful cream of tomato soup. I will never eat any food that has the halal mark on it and we should all look for it, most easily found on Campbell’s Tomato Soup. As you have shown on this website there are many. I will not eat food that an imam has prayed over, wondering if my food has paid for terrorism against me. That is why I will never eat halal. Or if my food has been terrorized in the halal way. Apparently many schools have been forced to have their children eat halal in the UK and Canada and the US. I may start small with Campbell’s tomato soup in Canada, but there is no way any muslim imam is going to pray whatever he prays over what I and my children eat. EVER. I did not know about this, but, now it is over.

    • canned soups are not healthy anyway. Look at the Campbell ingredients sometime, esp. the salt levels. I don’t have to watch my salt intake, but that’s ridiculous. Also a great deal of sugar in various forms in the tomato version.

The halal butchering system is not humane.

As for the rest, I honestly think that despite Canada’s embarrassingly craven cave-in to Islam, it’s on a course of self-destruction in the West. That doesn’t mean our current generation of kids is not at risk, but when the entitlement state crumbles, so will its posturing to “special” groups.

BTW, one more reason to remove kids from government schools if at all possible. I am soooo glad we were able to homeschool, and it was nowhere near as bad as it is now.

  4. Quote:
The Christians don’t follow anything except what their philosophers and priests make up from time to time.
    end

Need I say any more? Islam is profane.
    Period.

    • Profane-well, yes and no. If we are to judge Islam on that quote they will have serious bedfellows!

Much of the relating criticism of the church today comes from Muslims embedded within the elites, and often within the Christian establishment. Even false Jews playing to a Muslim tune.

The Catholics are particularly infiltrated- witness their third world campaigns, povert alleviation by name but largely funded by Saudi largesse.

The chief source of profanity is certainly jumped up imams, but they have fellow travelers parading under false flags.

      • Islam is not profane because of “jumped-up imams,” it is profane for its false god and prophet.
        Period.

        • Interesting that “Murcilessta” apparently cannot comprehend that a group of people can come to their beliefs and worldview through an organic internal process. Thus, “Murcilessta” explains the Western Islamophiliac myopia (specifically, of the Catholic Church) in terms of “infiltrated” ideas; as he explains the dangerous pathology of Islam as the result of “jumped-up imams”.

          • The concepts of the sacred and the profane don’t apply to the practice of religion.
They are matters of faith, history, doctrine. The individual chose to define profanity in worldly and not spiritual terms, which demonstrates that he/she is completely out of touch with this ancient and important discourse of the spiritual.

        • Maybe, but it’s acceptance of Jesus as a true prophet shows it is not a heresy.

Some of the Islamic teachings are actually derived from the preachiness of our Lord’s disciples, though mediated by Muhammed.

Much of the theology of the two religions can be overlaid, and similarities uncovered. It’s really only since Catholic scholars started playing with Islamic texts (from 16th century) that the divergence of the two faiths has occurred. Work by Prof Robert Kernohan definitively shows Islam is actually a Christian sect, and probably only 20th century political infiltration by Catholic forces has led it towards an oppositional position vis a vis Christianity.

Probably best to keep an open mind on it till we understand where the future will take the faiths ie perhaps they will merge.

          • The values and behavior of Muslims are pretty much diametrically opposed to those of practicing Christians, and the societies built by Muslims have practically nothing in common with those that have a Christian foundation. Those differences didn’t start only in the 16th century.

You’d think if they were really the same religion, the fruits would be alike.

          • What he’s proposing is Chrislam, which has gained some footing in Africa.
Among Arian Christians it will fly because, like Muslims, they don’t believe in the Incarnation and deny Christ. If they submitted, they’d lose nothing. Except, of course, their Western allegiance to the 1st Amendment, Constitution and Declaration. But when you’ve got perfect truth . . . nothing, not even life and limb, matter.
But among Christians of Athanasian persuasion, Chrislam will go nowhere.

          • The differences you refer to surfaced in the 3rd century, AD. Long before Islam was founded.
That’s the truth that Hahled is covering up.

      • It’s true that in some parts of Spain where I live some priests already are using Koran as well as bible in their church, not for everything but to help explain to some of the new ones in church, like Muslims from North Africa.

The churches are therefore more understanding of the Muslims but I can’t see why they need do this, also have Muslim prayers too. And in some place like in the southern area they already have mosque in the church from back in history, and lots decoration is still there, also it points to Mecca.

Maybe in other parts of Europe like Netherlands and also Norway they could try this and see if helps make the Muslims fit in better but maybe it’s leading to confusion. Also some Spanish Christians doing this have joined mosque and are now Muslims, grow beards etc

    • The Christian don’t follow anything…

Has any Muslim “Scholar” matched City of God by Augustine?

    • Philosophers?

CS Lewis, Martin Luther, Aquinas, St Francis, St Boniface, St Aidan, Augustine of Hippo, Thomas More…

Then you have have priest’s acting as hard scientists. Lamaitre and the big bang theory, the list is endless. Many Roman Catholic clerics[1] throughout history have made significant contributions to science. These cleric-scientists include such illustrious names as Nicolaus Copernicus, Gregor Mendel, Georges Lemaître, Albertus Magnus, Roger Bacon, Pierre Gassendi, Roger Joseph Boscovich, Marin Mersenne, Bernard Bolzano, Francesco Maria Grimaldi, Nicole Oresme, Jean Buridan, Robert Grosseteste, Christopher Clavius, Nicolas Steno, Athanasius Kircher, Giovanni Battista Riccioli, William of Ockham, and others listed below. The Catholic Church has also produced many lay scientists and mathematicians. This doesn’t even begin to account for the institutional support that the Church gave in founding the best University system in the world.

      These Imams are cheeky buggers.

      • Unfortunately, much as I’d like to endorse you list of scientists and philosophers of a Christian heritage, many of those selected are either Jews, Masons or indeed covert Muslims eg Copernicus.

So, you may have to review your evidence, even though I do agree with your point that really only Christians have made any contribution to human civilisation.

          • Hesperado has a good point. I let your unsourced claims in, Halhed, hoping someone would call you on this kind of comment.

I am sick of “The Masons/Zionists/New World Order” finger-pointing. Unless we write a post on the masons, the zionists, the Illuminati, Opus Dei, etc., such comments are off topic.

And very very tedious. They add nothing to the conversation. No one learns anything except for paranoia lists.

            Please stop.

          • I prefer Israelis to diaspora types.

They’ve taken on the burden of being a nation instead of being a niche class.

          • I can name a few…

Brethern, this comment is a list. It is way too long, and way off topic. There are websites out there who might like your work. This is not one.

  5. The more I hear these Islamic scholars speak the more convinced I become that Islam must be confined to the desert regions of the earth from whence it came. Allowing this ideology to spread like a virus into the West is a grave error. It is alien to the West in every sense of the word.

    • Ockham’s Razor is a concept invented by one of those silly Priest/philosophers.

Is Islam responsible for the illogic of the Imam? The simplest logical option is probably truest. Yes.

      • Indeed, Ockhams Razor…

And alternatively, is Christianity to blame for the tidal wave of pedophile priests? Under your logic, yes.

May need to revisit this logic test as it seems to fail the colour grade.

    • If you are talking about Christianity in its orthodox, Athanasian form, then yes, the claims of Islam do blaspheme Christianity.
But if you are an Arian Christian, that is, you deny the divinity of Christ and the Trinity, then you really have nothing to lose under Muslim domination except your pride.
Muslims believe as Arians believe, God is simplified, even worldly, like the Ummah, and so you submit to this earthly entity that claims God-like eminence.
Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God. This is a Muslim claim upon Christianity, it is the boast of a conqueror and rapist, and it should not be honored.
Muslims claim to be the source of Western Civilization because they preserved Greek texts.
They are not the wellspring of Western Civilization. The ancient peoples they would have the world forget, the ancient Egyptians,. Sumerians, Babylonians and Assyrians, are.
This is a Muslim claim on Western history that should not be honored.
Muslims claim that salvation comes from one Arab prophet.
The Bible is clear, salvation comes from the Jews, form the line of Judah, and not from the Arab.
That’s why Jesus is the Son of a magically-appearing Mary in Islam and the Son of God, the son from the line of Ruth, Jesse, David and Solomon, in Christianity.
When Christians know these things, they will be able to resist Islam.
Because they choose not to learn them, Muslims make their claims and go unchallenged.

      • Yes but proving those things is actually damned near impossible in this day and age which is why it’s more likely Muslims will agree to merge with suitable Christian churches and sort out the theological differences.

Otherwise too complicated to win over enough converts.

  10. The absurd claim that Copernicus was a “covert Muslim” must surely rank with those hilarious claims that abounded in the Soviet Union that all the significant inventions of the modern era: steam engine, telegraph, telephone, internal combustion engine, aeroplane, etc etc were in fact invented by Russians, usually “peasants” or ” workers” many years before their generally accepted Western inventors did so.
