“We Do Not Preach Hate; We Expose Hate”

Below is the intervention read by Valerie Price, representing ACT! for Canada at the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Warsaw, Session 8 “Freedom of assembly and association”, September 27, 2013.

Many thanks to Henrik Ræder Clausen for recording this video and to Vlad Tepes for uploading it:

The prepared text for Ms. Price’s intervention:

Madame Moderator, esteemed colleagues,

Each time our organization, ACT! for Canada, or my colleagues at the Jewish Defence League attempt to bring a speaker into Canada, who the National Council of Canadian Muslims, formerly known as CAIR-Canada, disapproves of, they start a campaign of harassment, and intimidation, and bullying. They accuse us of being ‘racist’, ‘bigots’, ‘hate-preachers’ and ‘Islamophobes’, and they proceed to try and close down our venues.

CAIR-Canada disapproved of my British speaker in February, and they tried to pressure the Ottawa Public Library to cancel the event, calling on Ottawa Muslims for Sharia-based restrictions on freedom of speech. They failed.

Recently, when CAIR-Canada the two American speakers that the Jewish Defence League invited, they made the libelous contention that the JDL is a “right-wing terrorist group”, an inaccuracy first perpetrated in a CBC news report, and since retracted.

They again attacked the host of the event, Hilton Hotels, and they threatened them, saying that the 1.5 billion Muslims around the world would boycott them. This threat was outrageous on many levels. Most obviously, it is disturbing that an organization like them believes it can and could intimidate the manager of a major hotel into compliance with Sharia law forbidding criticism of Islam.

We do not preach hate. We expose hate. And as we all know, truth seems to be the new “hate speech”.

We recommend that Canada, as a participating State of the OSCE, continue to stand firmly with its commitments to upholding freedom of assembly and association.

Thank you, Madame Moderator.

  2. Short, to the point, with one or two examples. Terrific.

Over and over again, it must be stated, Truth is PC’s newly-devised hate speech. Facts are truth, and facts cannot be dismissed simply because they are unwelcomed by certain quarters.
