The New Brings Forth the Old

Our old blogspot blog was suddenly restored early this morning. There was no email from Google, nor any other explanation. Google giveth, and Google taketh away.

The move here is permanent, however. As I said in my “we’ve moved” post at the old blog:

Gotta get down to it
Blogger is cuttin’ us down
Shoulda been done long ago

So here we will stay.

It’s handy to have the old blog back so that the internal links that arrived here with the import will work. Also, anyone who wants to can go back there and look at the embedded videos that are missing here.

So I’ll leave it there as an archival resource for as long as Blogger allows it to remain. Comments have been turned off, however.

Posting will be light here today. I still have many hours of work to do on the internal archival links and the template, plus some actual paying jobs. But sometime in the next twenty-four hours I’ll start catching up on the translations that have accumulated since the nakba began last Saturday.

Well said. Misterious are the ways of the progressives. 🙂

  2. Welcome back, Lazarus 🙂

In my humble opinion there is a high probability that Blogger has succumbed to political pressure and I find it quite encouraging that at last the deconstructionists have tasted a soupcon of fear. I suspect that they can now hear the tumbrils rumbling towards them in the distance, and are getting a wee bit agitated. That thought does warm the cockles of my heart.

On another tack entirely: in the following News Feed I notice that you welcomed your President back to his ‘second and last term’. Are you and all of the cousins absolutely sure about the word ‘last’? Do keep an eye on your own back door.

Whatever, my best and fondest regards to you both and to all of the International team.

  4. The upside is being free of Blogger’s policy whims.

The downside is that you are almost certainly vulnerable to DOS attacks that wouldn’t faze Google.

    So it goes.

  5. Best of luck. Speaking only for myself, if you are able to put some advertising on the site to offset your costs, I would welcome it, and support the companies that support you whenever I could.

  6. I suspect that it was not “malicious code” that caused the Blogger site to go down but rather one or more malicious persons. Perhaps their review cleared up the matter. For the present. And I can see why you, the creators of GoV, do not want to be held hostage to Google and whatever malicious influences to which they are subject.

So good to see you back!

  7. Love the new look. The arabic squiggles in the background on the old blog were hard on my middle aged eyes. Best of luck to you in your new home on the net.
I’ve been reading your blog for a long time, but seldom commented due to the difficulty of blogspot comment system. Was a victim of the LGF purge and I now hang out mainly at The Blogmocracy.

I hate to tell you, but the squiggles disappeared from our page background more than 2 years ago!

Everyone was glad to see them go. I was the only one who ever liked them…

  8. Well, the disappearance of Gates of Vienna, and the non-immediate reappearance, led me to hit the donate button. Sometimes you just don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.

  9. Saudis and Salafists buying censorship all over these days. Looks more and more like Soviet Russia by the day. The mainstream media is simply brown nosing Muslims and terrorists – anyone with half a brain is just laughing at it.

  10. I wanted to reply to Takuan, but I believe he was frustrated with some Holocaust minimizers and I got some stream of consciousness slung my way from him.

Id be interested in his explanation of this new fangled Christianity-lite that is supposed to save Western Civilization….based on his reading of a select few American Founding Fathers. I still think the idea is [urinously] poor, but it’s probably my ignorant uneducated prejudices that I was taught as a 9 year old. LOL!

PS – I agree with Robert Marcheron’s analysis of why Holocaust Denial and Trivialization is attractive to many European Nationalists.

  11. Thank the good Lord that you are back and thanks to all those who helped you, since they believe in you too. I did everything I could in my own power to help draw attention. Don’t worry, we’ll soon have you right back up at the top of those looking for you.

  12. I’ve been posting the new site address to my groups on facebook as well as updating my own blogroll.
I’m still on blogger -not a big enough nuisance for anyone to make a complaint about me. But I think I would be overwhelmed if my blog saw the traffic yours gets.
Go get’em and Congratulations on the new site.

  13. First time commenter. Blogger’s comment system is pitiful. Just try and get an audio challenge that is so full of hash that you can’t understand what it is saying. This system is much better for the visually challenged.
I’ve been a reader for several years and I credit GOV with providing me with information that a university education and the LSM kept hidden under the carpet.
    Thanks.

  14. I thought you’d set up on your own. Well done and welcome back, as it were.

Don’t let the bastards grind you down as we say in England.

  16. I posted this in the wrong thread. So I’m reposting here.

You’re back in the saddle again. Yea-Hah! I was truly concerned this past couple days, but wasn’t surprised that Google would succumb to the political pressures.

WordPress is a much better venue than Blogger anyway.

  17. Great to see you back, after the big “Hijra” from Google! Although Mohammed’s original Hijra to Medina was followed by a later move back to Mecca. Hope you don’t follow in his footsteps 🙂

  18. I am so happy to see your new site!
Not much more to say, for once.
Look like G-d likes what you do even if Google takes the opposite standpoint.
    Love To all!
    Epona xx

  19. Had you seen my crestfallen visage the other day when you were vanished,
you would have been much amused….I might be tempted to add my two-bits
now and again with this format. Thank-you for your much appreciated efforts.
